Starting Your Own House Clearance Business

Many of those who lose their jobs during a recession will find it tough to find another job and may start to think about investing in their own business with whatever redundancy pay they may have received. This can be a golden opportunity to become your own boss, but it takes hard work, determination and perseverance to make a new business successful and it rarely happens overnight.

It is always tempting when thinking about starting a business to do something you have always loved doing – make your hobby your job. But, sadly, in the majority of these cases the businesses just don’t succeed. This is mainly because they have been embarked upon with a personal bias and not from a purely business perspective. Whatever decision you might make about going it alone, that decision must always be a business one first and foremost.

The best approach to starting your own business is to research all those services or products that are required in both good and bad economic times.

A house clearance business is one such service that will always be in demand. More and more people are looking for this service sometimes simply to get their houses ready for sale. Or they might have moved and settled permanently abroad and now wish someone to clear out the house in readiness for selling it. Establishing a good business relationship with local estate agents can lead to regular business referrals.

But house clearance is most particularly required after a death in the family. The bereaved often do not want to clear the house at such an emotional time, and the act of disposing of a loved one’s belongings can be overwhelming. Relatives can struggle to sort out the belongings of the deceased whilst coping with their grief and the ongoing demands of work and family life. Or there may simply be no emotional ties and the deceased is a distant relative in another part of the country.

Whatever the reason, there is a booming business clearing out other people’s unwanted belongings.

Whilst local auctioneers do sometimes offer house clearance services, they are really looking for valuable items to sell in their auctions and are not usually interested in the junk. So if you are embarking on this type of business then you need to be prepared to clear everything and often to deal with people at a difficult time in their lives.

Many items that are unwanted by one individual can still be recycled or donated to charity so be sure to consider these options where possible.

To distinguish your business from the rogue element that operate bogus house clearance services it is worth joining the UK House Clearance Association.

Every member of the association makes some key commitments, which are simply good business practice:

· To provide a clear description, price and timetable for the house clearance to be carried out.

· To guarantee full liability insurance.

· To hold a current waste carrier’s license issued by the Environment …

Instant Lottery Tickets – How To Make Money With Losing Lottery Tickets

Buying and scratching instant lottery tickets is something that almost everyone has done at one time or another. For some folks it’s probably something they do too often. I guess for me, the bad buying habit is junk food. If I had spent my extra money on instant lottery tickets over the years, I may have been rich by now instead of overweight. Like anything, whether it’s food or gambling one must do it in moderation, and that is often not easy to do.

Here in the state of Pennsylvania where I live, the first scratch off ticket came out in 1975, and they have been a big hit every since.

I have bought instant lottery tickets of every available price range in my state. I usually buy the $1 – $2 tickets, but once in awhile I buy a $5 – $10 ticket, and one time, I purchased a $20 instant ticket. I won nothing on the $20 ticket, not even $1 or a FREE ticket, so that was like throwing away my $20. You would think that with having to spend that much money, they would give everyone at least a FREE $1 ticket or something. I thought afterwards that I was kind of foolish for spending and losing the $20 on one ticket, but heck as they say, “If you don’t play, you can’t win !”, it was a gamble, and I didn’t win that time. I have known two individuals who each won near $20,000 on instant lottery tickets. So I can say for sure, “yes, some folks do win it big.”

Unlike the live lottery that is usually drawn by picking numbers, the instant lottery is pre-determined months ahead of it’s release. The tickets are designed and printed, then they are distributed to the lottery retailers throughout the state. Most small convenience stores offer instant lottery tickets, as well as the large chain stores. You can usually find them in a vending machine with multiple styles and price ranges to choose from, or they are at the cashiers area on the counter or behind a shielded section. Instant lottery tickets sell for as low as $1 and as high as $20 each in most states of the U.S. but some states may have tickets that sell for even more than $20 each.

States do instant lotteries to help fund many different programs. For instance in Pennsylvania, the lottery is used to generate funds to benefit programs for the Commonwealth’s older residents. In Ohio, since 1974, the Lottery has provided more than $13 billion to public education. Annually, the lottery provides about 4.5 percent of the funding needed for Ohio’s public education. In Missouri, approximately 27.3 cents of every dollar spent on the Lottery benefits education programs; 61.6 cents goes back to players as prizes, 5 cents is used for administrative costs and 6.1 cents goes to retailers in the form of commissions, incentives and bonuses. In all, more than 93 cents of every dollar stays …

Student Dental Insurance – Affordable Options For Students

Whether your are 18 years old and just starting out in college or are an older student furthering your education, congratulations on taking such an important step toward preparing for your future. Besides studying and exams, students have other worries as well. One of them being where to find an affordable dental insurance plan. Whether you are looking for individual coverage or a family plan, there are ways to find cheap but quality student dental insurance.

1) ISO. The ISO, or the International Student Organization, is a great option for international students looking for student dental coverage. For people who live in other countries, but are studying at universities or colleges in the United States, the ISO is a great place to turn to to find an affordable plan.

2) A school offered capitation plan. This is a dental plan offered by the school itself that covers basic dental needs. While plans differ from school to school, it is not unusual for these plans to require that you see a set list of dentists. Often, the school will allow you to roll the cost of the plan into your tuition and if you are receiving financial aid or are on scholarship, the fee can be taken care of so you don’t have to come out of pocket.

3) Dental insurance scheme. Another form of student dental insurance that is offered by the school itself is a dental insurance scheme. This plan is offered by a private insurance company but in agreement with the school. Because insurance companies can afford to give discounts for group coverage, the fact that many students participate makes securing this type of coverage cheap.

4) Discount dental plans. Sometimes, if you are not anticipating needing much dental work at all, these discounted dental plans can be a much more affordable way to go. Unlike insurance, you don’t pay premiums. You pay a nominal annual fee and get access to a list of dentists that will do basic work at greatly discounted prices. Another great thing about these programs is that they also offer great discounts on major dental procedures in case of emergency.…

Globlization And Its Impact Of Insurance Industry In India

INTRODUCTION

The word "Fear" has only four alphabets like love but both of them have very different e meaning. Whatever man (malor female) does for the love of their families always starts with the background of fear. Usually so many times we have been asking our selves that, what will happen if we were not there, but we keep on asking rather then doing something for it. Time is precious, it never stops for any one and we are living in the world of uncertainty; The absence of job, the uncertainty of money, the absence of property and like this the story goes continous for the whole life of a man.

A thriving insurance sector is of vital importance to every modern economy. Firstly because it encourages the habit of saving, secondly because it provides a safety net to rural and urban enterprises and productive individuals. And despite most importantly it generates long- term invisible funds for infrastructure building. The nature of the insurance business is such that the cash inflow of insurance companies is constant while the payout is deferred and contingency related.

This characteristic feature of their business makes insurance companies the largest investors in long-gestation infrastructure development projects in all developed and aspiring nations. This is the most compelling reason why private sector (and foreign) companies, which will spread the insurance habit in the societal and consumer interests are urgently required in this vital sector of the economy. Opening up of insurance to private sector including foreign participation has replied to various opportunities and challenges in India.

LIFE INSURANCE MARKET

The Life Insurance market in India is an underdeveloped market that was onlyapped by the state owned LIC till the entry of private insurers. The penetration of life insurance products was 19 percent of the total 400 million of the insurable population. The state owned LIC sold insurance as a tax instrument, not as a product giving protection. Most customers were under- insured with no flexibility or transparency in the products. With the entry of the private insurers the rules of the game have changed.

The 12 private insurers in the life insurance market have already grabbed nearly 9 percent of the market in terms of premium income. The new business premium of the 12 private players has tripled to Rs 1000 crore in 2002- 03 over last year. Meanwhile, with regard to state owned LIC's new premium business has fallen.

Innovative products, smart marketing and aggressive distribution. That's the triple whammy combination that has enabled fledgling private insurance companies to sign up Indian customers faster than anyone ever expected. Indians, who have always seen life insurance as a tax saving device, are now suddenly turning to the private sector and snapping up the new innovative products on offer.

The growing popularity of the private insurers is evidenced in other ways. They are coining money in new niches that they have introduced. The state owned companies still dominate segments like endowments and money back policies. But in …

Painting Business – 13 Point Checklist of Essential Tools Most Needed to Start a Painting Business

If you are considering starting a commercial or residential painting business you will only need some basic low-cost tools to start with. You can buy other tools as more jobs come along and with your down payments. Here is a list of the most essential painting business tools needed to get you started.

1.) Quality Cage Frame – Also known as a paint roller. Wooster and Purdy both have strong, commercial-use cage frames sold at most professional paint stores.

2.) Extension Pole – Get yourself a good medium-size fiberglass extension pole for rolling out walls and ceilings.

3.) Wall-Sander – I always sand walls and ceilings before I roll them out. It cleans up cobwebs and anything else that needs to be knocked down to make the walls and ceilings smooth.

4.) Roller Bucket – I use Wooster’s roller bucket. It is tall, square and has a lid. It is made out of durable plastic and balances a lot better than a paint tray and washes out easy. It’s a must have.

5.) Cut-in Bucket – I like to put some paint in a small plastic bucket for cutting in. There are small 1-gallon buckets of drywall compound that when empty make a great cut-bucket plus they have a lid. They will last for years.

6.) Step Ladder – A regular wooden 5-foot step ladder works perfect for most homes. If I need a 6-foot ladder I have an aluminum one for that. Most of the time all I need is my 5-footer and I am only 5’6″ so there you go.

7.) 16′ Extension Ladder – Great for stairwells or ranch-style exterior jobs. I use my 16-foot extension ladder more than any other size. I also have 20′ and a 24′ extension ladders, but i couldn’t get by without my little 16-footer.8.) Drop Cloths – I like using the runner type the most. They are inexpensive, light to carry and can be moved around the room easily. I also have 9 x 12’s on hand.

9.) Fluorescent Light – Interior painting without a fluorescent light is nearly impossible, especially on a cloudy day. Fluorescent light is a nice white light that is great for painting and shows up the colors in their true form.

10.) Tool Bucket – An empty 5-gallon bucket makes a great tool bucket. I keep my pliers, a hammer, razor-blade knives, a caulk gun, etc., in my tool bucket.

11.) Small Fan – I bought a $30 blower type fan made by Stanley Tools from Walmart. It dries out walls and ceilings quickly so you can get back to work cutting in and moving around the room without it being wet.

12.) Drywall compound – I hate Spackle. It flashes under paint jobs. I use the Sheetrock brand of 90-minute quick-dry drywall compound found at Lowes or other hardware stores for around $11 a bag. It will last me all year long. It is the powder formula and is easy to mix up right on …

Business Modernization: Innovative and Creative Organizational Restructuring

Modernization is an effective approach to making existing mainframe and distributed systems more responsive to business needs. To meet the demand for business innovation and agility, organizations are looking to improve the structure, flexibility and re usability of their business.

An article written in the Harvard Business Review entitled, "Managing Professional Intellect: Making the Most of the Best," provided reassurance that the problems faced by businesses in developed countries were very similar to the problems faced in third world countries today.

The points of leverage in organizations are the beliefs and worldview of their leaders and decision makers. The sense of purpose, vision and commitment of an organization's leadership play a critical role in the results it can accomplish. However, it is essential to realize and accept the fact that if the organization is to survive it must change and evolve.

If an organization is going to develop, it must make many significant changes in the overall strategies, practices and operational tactics. And as it evolves, the leaders and the employees have to be able to align with the organizational changes or the restructuring process will not be successful.

To be quite simplistic, an organization has to be viewed as a dynamic system, and like any other system it will not work when all the involved components are not working together smoothly and efficiently. This basically means that any change to the organization must be mirrored by a realignment within the workforce. This is the only possible way to effect change successfully.

However, it is essential that modernization of any type has to be approached from a risk and benefits perspective. Another reason to modernize would be to reduce the overall support and operational costs. This is only justifiable if the savings from modernization exceeded the cost of modernizing. Additionally, any change effected by an organization must include a carefully developed plan for enabling the human element of that organization to understand, be willing and able to implement the changes required. Otherwise the cost of the modernization will deliver no return on investment for the organization and may in fact, add additional costs to the initial investment.

When looking to identify where change needs to take place it is a fact that organizational restructuring can help management gain insight about the best ways to align the available human resources with the needs of the company to ensure the highest level of performance and theby deliverable to better Guarantee current and continued success, profitability and a strong a healthy future within the organization.

The ability to innovate and be creative in the use of knowledge and information to problem-solve has been cited many times as the key to competitive advantage in any organization. However, there is a difference in modernizing an organization that is reliably young and an organization that has been in operation for many years.

CAN MODERN PROBLEMS BE SOLVED WITHIN AGING ORGANIZATIONS?

Many organizations in the world today proudly announce, "We are in the process of restructuring our …

Feng Shui Attributes of the Personal Trigram Kan

The Kan trigram is associated with the Water element and the direction of north. For those who are the Kan trigram based on their birth year, the direction of north would then be your “home base” direction and an area of the home or work space that would feel very cozy and comfortable.

A trigram is code for energy, which can be applied in many different formats in Chinese metaphysics and Kan can be also written as “K’an.” Chinese words have been transliterated in English using Wades-Giles or the Pin Yin format. As well, the word “trigram” is also called a “gua” or “kua.”

A trigram can relate to time, place, direction, colors, seasons, body areas and a family member. The symbolism is deep and can be extracted to suit the context in which the trigram is being used. The Kan trigram is associated with the middle son in the family structure or a middle-aged man in general. This does not mean that a woman who is the Kan trigram is masculine. All of the symbolism associated with the trigram has to be understood within context.

The image for Kan from the Yi Jing is of a deep body of water or an abyss. In Chinese medicine, water is associated with the emotion of fear. Kan people can be more emotional than others, but as well some of the most creative people.

The Kan person’s best direction for attracting wealth is the Southeast, according to the Ba Zhai School of Feng Shui. This is just about personal magnetism and it is not taking into consideration the area of the house or business which can attract wealth for anyone, regardless of their birth data.

A secondary wealth attracting location for the Kan trigram person is the direction of East. These directions being referred to have a 45 degree range and can be correctly identified using a compass.

Directions are always relative so from the center of your house you would be able to see the range of directions fanning around the center to locate any of the eight basic directions. That said, a compass could be disturbed if the reading is taken indoors, especially in a multi-storied metal infrastructure. This is why a professional consultant will take a compass reading outside and then super-impose the compass points over a floor plan sketch.

For a Kan trigram person, the direction of south is one which can harness good will and make a person appear more trustworthy and likable. This harmonious energy can be utilized within the home or for professional relations too.

Within the Ba Zhai School, also known as the Eight Mansion School, the Kan person is considered easterly, which means they favor the directions of North, South, East and Southeast. The West Group people favor the directions of Southwest, Northwest, West and Northeast. Beyond the scope of this article, there are mathematical and astronomical calculations which were used initially to derive these directional distinctions and groups.

Kan people can be …

6 Things You Must Consider Before a Canadian Motorcycle Ride

If you plan to cruise the highways and drive a motorcycle in Canada the following information will be useful to consider both for your own safety, and for your own piece of mind.

Canadian Highways and Rural Roadways

Whether you decide to rent a motorcycle or drive your own, Canada has a massive system of well managed city streets and highways which will bring you just about anywhere you want to go.

The main highway throughout Canada is the Trans-Canada Highway, which goes coast to coast. The distance from the east coast to the west coast is about 8000 km or around 4,900 miles. You could go on a Canadian motorcycle ride for weeks and never get to see everything.

Motorcycle Rentals

Renting a motorcycle in Canada may be something you want to consider. Canada has several motorcycle rental companies found near the major cities and towns. Rates vary depending on the season, type of motorcycle and length of rental. The minimum age to rent a vehicle in Canada is usually anywhere from 21-25 years old. If you plan to travel through the western provinces on your motorcycle you might want to look into the many popular tourist attractions, and the great roads to travel.

In order to rent in most cases you will need to have a major credit card. Requirements may vary from each province. Be sure to reserve your motorcycle ahead of time during peak travel times, which are usually from mid May to November.

Camping With Your Motorcycle

Most Canadian provincial and national parks, private campgrounds and other conservation areas allow you to camp with your motorcycle.

All of the Canadian provinces have a government agency that is responsible for tourism. You should check their websites or call for information to get get maps, and possible promotional offers, and maybe even some more Canadian motorcycle information. If you plan to stay in a campground near a popular park like Banff, Whistler, and Fundy National Park you should book in advance.

Driving Laws- Canadian Motorcycle Driving

In Canada the road laws are very similar to the rules in most US states. Most road safety laws and regulations are determined at the provincial and territorial level, so make sure you know the particular rules for the province you plan to be visiting. One rule for motorcyclists throughout all Canadian Provinces is that you must wear a motorcycle helmet if you are driving a motorcycle in Canada.

Other things to consider while driving throughout all the Canadian provinces on a motorcycle are that you are allowed to make a right turn on red lights in most cities throughout the country after coming to a complete stop. Be careful though because in some areas of Quebec you are not allowed to do this. For more information, check with the Government of Quebec’s website.

In all Canadian provinces pedestrians have the right-of-way and you must yield to pedestrians at crosswalks. The speed limit on the most rural highways is usually around …
