Business Ethics – 6 Basic Principles of Business Etiquette

One of the most important, if not the most important factor in determining the chances of success in any business or professional activities is the ability to behave properly with people. Even in the early 1930s Dale Carnegie observed that the success of a man in his financial affairs, even in the technical field or engineering are fifteen percent dependent on his professional knowledge and eighty-five percent on his ability to communicate with people. In this context it is easy to explain the attempts of many researchers to formulate and justify the basic principles of ethical business communication or, as they are often called, the commandments of personal public relation or “business etiquette”. Business etiquette or the process of survival and succeeding in the business world could be explained in the following six basic principles:

  1. Punctuality (do everything on time). Delays affect the work and are a sign that a person cannot be relied upon. The principle to do everything on time applies to all service tasks. Experts studying the organization and distribution of working time recommend adding extra 25 percent to the time period that is required to perform the assigned task.
  2. Privacy (do not reveal too much). In any institutions, corporations, or particular deals there are secrets that should be kept as carefully as the ones of a personal nature. There is also no need to recount anyone heard from a colleague, supervisor or subordinate about his or her performance or personal life.
  3. Courtesy, friendliness and affability. In any situation it is necessary to behave politely, kindly and benevolent with customers, clients, customers and co-workers. This, however, does not require being friends with everyone whom you communicate in a work setting.
  4. Attention to people (think of others, and not only of yourself). Attention to the people surrounding you should be extended to colleagues, superiors and subordinates. Respect the opinions of others; try to understand why they have formed a particular point of view. Always listen to criticism and advice of colleagues, superiors and subordinates. When someone questions the quality of your work, show that you value the views and experiences of other people. Confidence should not prevent you to be modest.
  5. Appearance (dress as expected). The main approach is to fit in your environment at work, and within that environment – in your level of contingent workers. You should look the best way, which is to dress with taste, choosing matching colors. Carefully choosing accessories is important.
  6. Literacy (speak and write good language). Internal documents or letters to outside agencies should be composed paying attention to the proper language used, and all proper names transferred without errors. Do not use abusive words. Even if you only quote the words of another person around, they will be perceived as part of your own vocabulary.

Personal Air Cooler Benefits

If you’re looking for alternate methods to use energy and have cleaner air to breathe, consider the use of evaporative cooling units in lieu of central air or a regular room air conditioning unit. These units, also known as swamp coolers create a cooler environment with many pluses.

A personal air cooler with evaporative cooling technology can cool room temperatures significantly. They can also save you significantly on your electricity bill over usage of a regular refrigeration air conditioning unit. We all know how steep our air conditioning bills can be, especially in hot summer months. These swamp coolers go above and beyond cooling your air. They can also create cleaner healthier environments with features such as air cleaners built right into the cooler unit.

How do personal air coolers work?

It’s best to use these devices in areas where there is a low level of humidity as they create humidity. They also use existing hot weather to be converted to cooler temperatures. The cooler blows that cooled air into your room. When searching for an evaporative personal cooler, you will find a multitude of options. There are several considerations to consider when making your choice including the features you want as well as the design of the unit and the amount of floor space it’s meant to cool.

Personal air coolers use either direct or indirect evaporative cooling methods. While some evaporative coolers can cool entire buildings or outdoor areas, a personal cooler generally cools a smaller area such as a single room and contains louvers to allow you to direct the flow of air where you wish. One of the benefits of these is that they are generally lightweight and fairly portable. The smaller units don’t have significant reservoirs but can provide several hours of cooling for you. You can invest in larger systems to cool an entire building that have higher end components and more power. This, still reduces your electricity bill and results in cleaner air.

What are the other advantages of personal air coolers?

These units are fairly quiet, take up much less energy than a regular air conditioning unit, create cleaner air and are better for the environment. Many hydro companies are now giving rebates to customers who use more energy efficient appliances so it’s also worth checking with your local hydro company to find out if a rebate system is in place. This can significantly reduce the cost you’ll pay to use this better cooling resource.…

Financial Abundance – 5 Factors

As an “Abundant Life Coach” I get asked about the meaning of “financial abundance” very often. What this means to you can be the difference between living the lifestyle of your dreams, or settling for something less than your dreams. I want you to live the life of your dreams!

Here, then, are 5 Essential Factors of Financial Abundance:

“The Abundant Mindset”

Thousands upon thousands of books, articles, media, programs, and so much more have been produced that discuss the awesome power of our minds, and the influence of our thinking upon our lives. It is difficult to say enough or emphasize enough that truth. As I see it, we are exactly as we think.

In my work, I recommend the adoption of an “Abundant” mindset. This means so much more than finance or money, however, for the purposes of this article, I will discuss abundance only as it applies to the world of money and finance.

A financial abundance mindset means enjoying an abundant amount of money, and yet not allowing greed. Greed does not work (sorry, Gordon Gekko). Of course “financial abundance” will be a relative concept; it will probably mean something different to each person. Greed, however, is fairly obvious; it is almost like knowing (within your mid or heart) the difference between right and wrong.

Further, a financial abundance mindset means having the monetary means or resources to enjoy an abundant lifestyle, yet balancing your financial wealth with philanthropy and generous giving (see point 4). When one’s personal motives are clearly defined and one’s goals are aligned with those motives, then financial abundance becomes clear.

“Specialized Knowledge”

The largest difference between the rich and poor (or the “haves” and “have-nots”) is knowledge. Or, more specifically, the largest difference is a specialized knowledge; meaning that they have the “right” knowledge and also know how to use that knowledge to their advantage. In other words, specialized knowledge is the information or data itself, coupled with the wisdom to know how to use the information or data.

For many, specialized knowledge is an academic education such as medical or law school, while for others this might mean computer programming, aviation repair, or something. Further, many of those with a financial education know how to leverage their own money to make more money. Obviously the point is that specialized knowledge translates to earning ability.

“The Power of Compounding Interest and Investing”

For many people, diligent savings and investment of a consistent percentage of income over considerable lengths of time has lead to financial abundance. I would certainly add that economic factors always play a significant role with regard to risk in investments. Even so, living well within one’s means while investing and saving can very often lead to financial abundance.

“Generous Giving”

Generosity does not necessarily mean giving away or donating money. Mr. Zig Ziglar has said: “If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. You will get all you want in life if you help enough other …

What Questions Will a Loss Adjuster Ask Me?

A Loss Adjuster is appointed by an insurance company to manage and investigate claims. Insurer’s will use them for a variety of reasons such as when the claim is of a large value, complex or suspicions of fraud or simply because they do not have the internal resources to deal with the claim at that time.

There are a number of questions a Loss Adjuster is likely to ask you when investigating your claim. This will vary depending on the nature of your claim, however, there are some standard questions that they will ask including:-

  1. Personal details of those living at the Insured property – This will normally include residents names, dates of births and occupations and is mainly to verify who lives at the property and is covered by the Insurance policy. Occupations will give an indication as to whether the claim being presented is consistent with the Policyholders lifestyle
  2. How long you have lived at the Insured address and confirmation as to whether you own or rent the building
  3. Details on the property – for buildings, this may include things such as age of property, number of bedrooms, type of heating system This builds up a picture of what is actually Insured by the Insurance company, whether there are any property features that cause a higher risk to Insurers and also enables it to be established if the cover / sums insured taken out are adequate and that you are paying a sufficient level of premium (if not, this underinsurance can lead to a financial penalty on your claim).
  4. Details of previous Insurers (this is normally asked if your current policy has been in existence for less than a year) together with confirmation of any previous claims submitted within the previous 5 years. This is to check if you have disclosed previous claims when taking out the current policy – normally if there are concerns or if your policy is less than a year old, checks will be made via a national claims database called CUE – if any claims are identified that you did not disclose, this can lead to Insurers refusing your claim and cancelling your policy)
  5. Whether you or any persons living at the property have any CCJ’s, bankruptcy orders etc. This can cause an issue with your claim / policy in the event that it was never disclosed to your insurers (people with these are considered to be a higher risk to ensure and the Insurer if they knew may have refused cover or charged a higher premium)
  6. Circumstances regarding what caused the loss / damage This is to enable a picture to be built up of what caused the claim so it can be determined if policy cover is in place and also to establish if there are any concerns or if any Third Parties involved who may be considered responsible for causing the loss or damage ie: a neighbour
  7. What you did immediately following the incident ie: called a plumber. This is

What Does Personal Achievement Mean to You?

There is something special about setting out on a personal journey to achieve something, going through all the ups and downs of any personal change and finally reaching the goal you or someone else set for you.

More than achievement for your team or your community there is a great sense of fulfilment about reaching a goal.

What does personal achievement mean to you?

1. Satisfaction

When you decide to do something, especially if it is something you’ve not done previously then you can feel a personal; sense of satisfaction when you achieve what you wanted to do. It might be something as simple as tidying some clutter or clearing out some old clothes no longer needed, or as complicated as planning a journey around the world.

2. Fulfilment

Similar to satisfaction but also this means that you can feel that you’ve completed part of an ongoing sense of change or a process. For example if you are discovering how to use a new camera you can feel a sense of fulfillment when you have taken a set of photographs and viewed them on your computer.

You know you have a lot more to learn but are fulfilled at completing the initial part of the process.

3. Completing a journey of change

Change may take a moment or go on for a long time, but when you have planned to do something over months or years then when you finally reach the destination there is a sense of great achievement. This could be something such as completing a University course or preparing for retirement and what you will do when you stop working. I can identify with both of these scenarios.

4. Overcoming objections

When you start to talk about changes you want of goals you hope to achieve it is a common experience that some people will tell you that it is impossible or you won’t be able to do that thing. Yet when you are determined to do something and continue in spite of objections there is a wonderful sense of completion when you finally do it.

5. Reward

There might be a valuable prize when you reach the goal, yet the actual value isn’t necessarily vital. For example a certificate to show you passed an exam is only a piece of paper yet the value of that reward is tremendous and gives a great sense of personal achievement. Something which shows you and others what you’ve been through on your journey of change can enhance you own sense of its value.…

Personal Attributes Are Qualities That Make You Who You Are

Personal attributes are those qualities that make you who you are. Some of these attributes are innate and others may be something you’ve learned or gained from experience.

What is important about them is this:

If you can say what yours are, you create a deeper understanding of the person behind the words. The person hearing the description of your personal attributes will develop a much stronger mental image of the sort of person you are. That is important because the key to most interviews is convincing the interviewer that you are the sort of person they are looking for. Knowing what they may ask you is helpful too.

There are lots of qualities that sum up a person, but not everybody can put them into words, so the point of this article is to give you some words and phrases or statements that you can use in the interview.

You may also want to use some of them in your covering letters, to help you answer an application form question or as part of your personal summary in your CV.

Make Sure You Can Back Up Your Claims

A word of warning though: whenever you make statements about your personal attributes, you may be challenged and asked to prove it or demonstrate it in some way or at the very least, to give an example of how you live up to your claim. So make sure you have a story to illustrate each one you use. If you don’t possess that particular personal quality, you will be found it!

Here are some phrases that describe a range of personal attributes:

  • I am highly motivated and enthusiastic and have a keen desire to continually update my knowledge and skills
  • I am a loyal employee who is hard working, dependable and trustworthy because I understand it is a two way relationship.
  • I have the ability to work individually and as part of the larger organization’s team

Personal Trainer – History of This Practice

The personal trainer career pathway is a new one that has only recently been pioneered. Obviously, the ancient Greeks and other cultures of the past have had their athletic traditions, but most of this athletic training was actually intended to keep people in shape for war. Exercising for the sake of health and going to a professional expert in fitness training is a new practice that has only begun in the 20th century.

There were destination health spas in the late 19th century that were concerned with exercise in a parallel fashion along with overall body health, but these destination health facilities often used questionable health procedures that had little to do with actual fitness. Jack Lalanne is known as the godfather of all fitness and for good reason. Born in California in 1914, Jack was first a sugar addicted child that felt he was “mean and weak” as a result.

After a nutrition lecture he saw as a teenager changed his life, Jack threw himself into a sugar free nutritious diet, exercise and soon played on multiple high school sports teams. In 1936 at the young age of 22, he opened the first health club ever. Opening the club in Oakland, California, he gained a reputation with conservative minded doctors as a “health nut” to be avoided.

He walked the streets to find customers claiming he could recondition their bodies and get them in the best shape of their lives. In the process of opening his club and personally training his customers, he basically invented the personal trainer career. While he continued to shape his method for exercise instruction he also invented a number of exercise machines that are common place today.

The cable pulley weight lifting systems you see in every single gym in the world are his invention as are the smith machines you see everywhere as well. Soon Jack opened more clubs and each one had individuals working at them who could provide instruction in how to use the machines, eat well and get the proper amount of rest. Jack Lalanne eventually sold his chain of exercise clubs which were renamed Bally’s.

In 1954, the American College of Sports Medicine was founded to promote fitness, health and certify fitness professionals. This organization began certifying the first personal trainers, but by the 1980s the personal trainer career became popular and sometimes even lucrative. Fitness celebrities such as John Basedow, Gilad Janklowicz, and Jack Lalanne himself have made millions selling fitness videos since the 1980s.

Today professional training companies are everywhere offering to help you get fit at either the local gym or even your own home. Thanks to pioneers like Jack Lalanne, it’s quite possible for anyone to learn about fitness, get certified and find a job as a personal trainer.…

3 Essential Elements of a Viable Network Marketing Business

Many people nowadays are looking at network marketing as a business choice. It has been established that it is increasingly becoming common to see successes in this line of business, many thanks to the advent of relatively affordable broadband internet services, which has really brought the world to us.

Amongst the more favourable facets of the network marketing industry is the cost of entry that is relatively low. When compared to other start-up alternatives, this platform, most of the time, needs little capital involvement. You also get a great deal of support a lot of the time. You do not require any formal qualifications to get started, and you do not have to wait for too long to start earning money. Most of the time, you start making money within a couple of weeks, depending on how quickly you are able to sell your network’s products or enrol marketers into the program.

Statistics have also shown that the products and services being sold through network marketing business style tend to have better quality when compared to others as the survival of the business entity depends very much on the referrals it receives.

As there are many choices of companies to pick from, it is easy to get confused and make a mistake despite the benefits listed above. Therefore, you have to take your time to really look at as many opportunities as possible prior to making your choice. Keep in mind, you are seeking a business opportunity that will continuously bring you recurring revenue for the rest of your life. So, you have to be careful you don’t get it wrong right from the start.

Deciding on what you are going to devote to this endeavour, how much time are you going to commit, what resources are available to guarantee some level of success, who are your clients.

All these should be addressed a sincerely without reservations. After gaining some insight into these areas then you can take the following step in deciding what’s suitable.

Below are other essential questions to ask when selecting a home-based business opportunity.

1. What Kind of Assistance is Available?

Does the opportunity you’re taking into consideration have sufficient assistance and training to assist you through start-up? Depending upon your personality and previous experience, you may simply need fundamental training, or more personal assistance. If the business opportunity is through an already established business, do a substantial inquiry into the degree of help they offer. Your customers or downlines, as the case may be, aren’t getting the assistance they require if you cannot get assistance when you require it, which spells trouble for you.

2. What Type of Compensation is Available?

Are you searching for quick financial benefits, or are you ready to wait a bit to see results? If your home-based business opportunity is through an established company, check whether they have a rewards plan for their customers. If the opportunity is more self-driven, can you set practical objectives with this business opportunity that …
